What Is Laser Target Shooting?

Laser target shooting uses precision laser pistols — the same technology used in international Modern Pentathlon competitions — to fire a coded laser beam at electronic targets. There are no pellets, no noise, no recoil, and no licence required. The pistols are safe for both participants and spectators, almost completely noiseless, and not subject to weapons legislation — making them perfect for group events.

Laser pistols were introduced into the Modern Pentathlon at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics and have been used in all Olympic competitions since 2012. What was once elite Olympic kit is now available to your team right here in Surrey.

Pentashot develops and manufactures equipment for laser shooting — and results at the highest level, including gold medals at the London 2012 Olympics, are a testament to their reliability and quality.

Introducing the Laser Run: Modern Pentathlon Comes to Surrey

For groups looking for something even more physically demanding, we offer our Laser Run — now officially part of Modern Pentathlon, one of the Olympic Games’ most storied events.

Laser Run is a competition combining cross-country running with laser pistol shooting across multiple sequences, held under the rules of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM).

At WildFit Surrey, our version features five 500m steeplechase runs interspersed with laser target shooting — think biathlon without the skis. Each time you arrive at the shooting station, you must hit your targets before you’re allowed to run again. Your heart is pounding, your breathing is ragged, and suddenly that laser pistol feels a lot heavier than it did when you were standing still.

It’s one of the most exhilarating things you can do as a team — and it’s available right here in the Surrey Hills.
